Some 120 employees from the SCHENKER & CO AG head office moved on 18 September 2009 to the new Business Park Viertel Zwei - smooth transfer with DB SCHENKERmoving services
On 18 September 2009, the ninety-five-year connection with Hoher Markt ended for the SCHENKER & CO AG head office in Vienna. In the afternoon of that day and the next day, Saturday, 19 September, 120 employees transferred to the new offices at Business Park Viertel Zwei.
The move was organised and carried out by DB SCHENKERmoving services, and on Monday, 21 September, the head office staff were already able to start work in their new and modern premises.
DB SCHENKERmoving services specialise in national and international removals. Thanks to their great experience and technical resources - not only the vehicle fleet but also the equipment for packing office materials and machines - large removal projects like that of SCHENKER & CO AG can be handled without interrupting the customer’s workflow.
"By consolidating all departments in a single office space we expect huge progress, particularly with regard to internal communication, from which the offices throughout south-eastern Europe will be able to benefit," says Elmar Wieland, chairman of the board of SCHENKER & CO AG.
SCHENKER & CO AG is the regional head office for south-eastern Europe, a region that includes seventeen countries and more than five thousand employees. In spite of the difficult financial situation, the network in south-eastern Europe is being continuously improved and modernised.
The takeover of Romtrans early this year made DB Schenker the market leader in Romania.
A new transport and logistics terminal is currently being set up in Sofia. It will have an area of 7,500 m² and will be an important logistics hub for the DB SCHENKER network. The Salzburg office recently celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new terminal, which will be operational in early 2010. The enlargement of the Vienna office in Albern has also been completed.
